FAKE? Bluesky Account for Actor Rob Reiner Deleted After Claims of Checking Into Facility
"No phones, social media , no trolls, just calmness to heal my pain."
A Bluesky social media account allegedly run by Rob Reiner has been suspended or deleted. Actor Rob Reiner was best known for playing the leftist hippie activist “Meathead” on the classic sitcom All in the Family. On Bluesky, someone purporting to be Reiner claimed he was entering a “facility” to “heal” following the election of Trump.
“Reiner” posted the following on a Bluesky account on November 21, 2024:
I have made the decision to take the next few days to check into a facility for peace and relaxation. No phones, social media , no trolls, just calmness to heal my pain.
This follows a fake meme going around claiming Reiner said he would set himself on fire if Trump won (he did not).
The outspoken Democrat had supposedly moved from X to new social media site Bluesky following Trump’s win, only to be disappointed. Yesterday, the account also posted:
This platform is vile, racist and evil. It did not take long for MAGA scum to come spread their lies.
The possibly fake Reiner also naively claimed the Democratic Party is always truthful, honest, and “respectable”:
The Democratic Party is a party of truth, honesty and respectability. Republicans are the party of hate, dishonesty and misinformation.
It is not clear as of this writing whether the Bluesky account was legitimately fake and thus suspended, or if Reiner himself deleted it. A few have claimed that the account was run by an impersonator:
PSA: This Rob Reiner account is an impersonator meant to pull in clueless liberals, and then the right wing trolls hang out in the replies to harass them.
Part of the problem in discerning the truth here is that Reiner had built up a reputation over the years for being zealous and outrageous in his anti-Trumpism.
Here is a screenshot of the account’s last posts right before it was suspended:
To RR you are a pedophile and TRUMP WON.
