Welcome to The Aeon Chronicle, a new publication dedicated to fighting censorship and bringing you news and analysis you can’t find in the mainstream media.
After Donald Trump was elected president in 2016, The Washington Post changed its tagline to “Democracy Dies in Darkness,” a somewhat strangely pompous yet apocalyptic mission statement for one of the nation’s leading newspapers.
Apparently a new slogan had been in the works for a while, but the timing seemed to be a direct dig against Trump, which WaPo denied.
Whatever the intent, the Washington Post certainly does not have a reputation for fair and unbiased reporting, nor bringing any sense of “light” to the media table.
We are launching this new publication The Aeon Chronicle to help bring in more light; thus, our slogan is the far more positive “Freedom Thrives in the Light.” Yes, it was inspired by the doom and gloom WaPo tagline.
We’re not pretending to be completely unbiased here. If we are biased, it’s against things like mega corporations dominating the news narrative, Big Pharma companies paying off said media companies in the form of advertisements, and government censorship of news and social media, whether directly or indirectly.
To fund this publication, we don’t take money from any government entity, and that includes Russia, nor do we take money from pharmaceutical companies or other mega corporations. We are funded by subscribers and donations.
Our team is naturally diverse and multinational, hailing from the US, Canada, the UK, and beyond. We are against divisionary identity politics and pro human identification.
The Aeon Chronicle will be a messy publication. It won’t be slickly edited or “tame” all the time. We’ll have a mix of standard news articles along with rants, spicy opinion pieces, and maybe the so-called “conspiracy theory” or two. Some of our writers are regular people who don’t spell well, and that’s OK. We’re creating a more authentic and raw type of publication here.
We hope you will enjoy The Aeon Chronicle (or Aeon Chron for short).
PS: And by the way, Aeon is officially pronounced ay-on, but you can call it ee-on too.
