The two men and their dog in the video above apparently got out safely. However, one minute could mean the difference between life and death so do not stop to record the fiery inferno that may soon engulf you if you are ever in this situation.
East Glendale is now evacuating thanks to the Eaton Fire in Pasadena that has already killed at least two. La Cañada Flintridge and northern Monrovia are also evacuating.
Glendale is between Pasadena and Burbank. Burbank is also at risk of fires and is the home of Warner Brothers Studios.
Another fire has sprouted in the San Fernando Valley in the Sepulveda Basin Wildlife Reserve, which is surrounded by urban/suburban buildings and homes, including two hospitals and the Sherman Oaks Galleria, a mall made famous by Frank Zappa’s “Valley Girl” song in the 1980s.
Rumors and reports are swirling around about homeless people starting fires in the area to keep warm as well as possible saboteurs.
Also, California insurance rules had apparently changed just prior to the fires and many people reportedly lost their home insurance.
The Los Angeles Mayor is AWOL - visiting Ghana for the inauguration of a new president there.
Celebrities such as James Wood and Mark Hamill have had to evacuate the fires. However, it is important to understand that these areas are not just filled with rich people. Glendale in particular is not a ritzy area.
Also, many regular people and struggling actors rent out guest homes in wealthier areas of Los Angeles, so do not assume that just wealthy people are being hurt by the fires. Either way, we should wish well for everyone, even if they are lucky enough to be rich.
The fires will likely continue to grow in the next day. While the winds will die down this afternoon, they will pick up this evening again to possible hurricane-force levels.
