Massive USAID Scandal Uncovered: Your Tax Dollars Fueled Global Media Manipulation!
Shocking Revelations Expose How a Secretive NGO Controlled the News You See Worldwide!
USAID Allegedly Channeled $472 Million into Global Media Network, Raising Concerns Over Censorship and Propaganda
Massive taxpayer-funded initiative through Internews NGO sparks debate on media influence and the potential suppression of alternative viewpoints worldwide.
A recent report published by WikiLeaks reveals that the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) has allegedly funneled nearly half a billion dollars into a nonprofit organization, Internews, which operates a global media network. This initiative, reportedly supported by taxpayer funds, has sparked controversy due to its potential role in promoting state-sponsored narratives and suppressing alternative media voices.
Internews manages a vast media operation, collaborating with over 4,291 media outlets, producing 4,799 hours of broadcasts, and training over 9,000 journalists in 2023 alone. The organization is accused of supporting social media censorship initiatives and maintaining offices in over 30 countries, with main hubs located in the US, UK, France, Ukraine, Thailand, and Kenya. Their website tagline is “Information Saves Lives.”
Internews claims to be for press freedom, but they clearly prioritizing stopping what they deem misinformation based on their Theory of Change model:
In an unhealthy information environment, people are unable to make informed choices, false and hateful information divides communities, citizen participation in civic life declines and the structures for holding power to account are weakened.
The organization also uses grants to promote certain narratives in local communities, such as this grant to promote climate change narratives in Muslim countries:
SharaKa – for Inclusive Climate Action aims to promote climate justice in Jordan, Lebanon, Tunisia, and Palestine (oPt) by increasing the ability of civil society and citizens to safely and meaningfully influence and co-create inclusive climate actions. The project will build a network of learning and exchange of Climate CSOs and Media actors enhancing the production of meaningful and inclusive information to the wider public. The project will be implemented by Hivos, Internews, the Arab Reform Initiative (ARI), and the Arab Reporters for Investigative Journalism (ARIJ), in close collaboration with local climate CSOs and independent Media outlets & actors.
The CEO of Internews Network, Jeanne Bourgault, who previously worked with USAID and has connections to prominent corporate media outlets, reportedly pays herself an annual salary of $451,000. The organization’s board is co-chaired by notable Democratic donors, raising further questions about political influences within the network.
The USAID report suggests that since the Trump administration’s first term, Internews Network’s funding has significantly increased as part of an effort to counter so-called misinformation globally. Critics argue that this initiative, under the guise of "saving democracy," targets conservative media and promotes a biased narrative favoring far-left corporate media.
Public records indicate that Internews Network’s funding comes overwhelmingly from US government sources, and the organization maintains various subsidiaries under unrelated names, including some based in the Cayman Islands.
The revelation has ignited a debate about the ethical implications of using taxpayer dollars to potentially support a global media matrix aimed at controlling information and promoting specific political agendas. Concerns have been raised about the transparency and accountability of such funding, especially regarding its impact on local media landscapes worldwide.
