Statewide 911 Service Disruption Affects Pennsylvania; Residents Advised to Use Alternative Contact Methods
No word on WHY
Pennsylvania is currently facing an intermittent statewide outage of its 911 emergency service, impacting the ability of residents to reach emergency responders through the usual emergency number.
The Pennsylvania Emergency Management Agency (PEMA) has confirmed the disruption and is coordinating with fire departments, police, and county emergency centers to manage the situation. Individuals who encounter difficulties when attempting to contact 911 are advised to use their local 911 center’s non-emergency phone lines instead.
A user on X sarcastically said everything is “probably fine" after declaring that their power went out about 5 minutes after getting the 911 outage alert...
So we lost power 5 minutes after getting an alert that 911 is down statewide here in PA. Not weird at all..... It's probably fine...
Fire departments and emergency agencies across the state have issued advisories to keep the public informed and encourage alternative communication methods during this outage. Residents are also encouraged to follow social media pages and official websites of their local fire companies, police departments, and county emergency centers for the latest updates and guidance.
