Dear Woke Musicians: You Are the Haters

A letter to the The Red Jumpsuit Apparatus, and all other virtue signaling hypocrites.

Forward: As I write this, the US is dancing the “do we / don’t we” with Iran. My perspective as a Trump voter is that our president is doing everything he can to keep us out of war, but we may be forced into it. Kamala Harris would have had us warring with both Russia and Iran already. It really irks me that the left is so filled with Trump hate that they can’t see how restrained Trump has been this past week, both domestically and internationally. Judging from the comments on my “No Kings” letter - a good portion of Trump haters have stopped thinking in favor of dishing out dumb insults. I mean to write a follow-up to these comments, but I must first write a letter to the virtue signaling “rockers” out there…see this article for more context.

Dear Ronnie Winter,

So you don’t want Trump supporters going to your concerts? Oooh, I’m so upset and saddened. NOT!

I had no clue who you were until I saw the news spreading that you banned Trump voters from your shows. It turns out you are the frontman for a one-hit-wonder band whose biggest hit was in 2006, almost twenty years ago. I listened to a minute or two to your song “Face Down,” and I can now unequivocally say that I did not listen to your song then nor would I listen to it now.

This is what I was listening to in 2006, and Scissor Sisters are about as gay as they come:¹

(I know Jake Shears is gay, but damn the blond hair looks marvelous! And the moves! Wow!)

Scissor Sisters is unique and remains fresh after 20 years. I can’t say the same for The Red Jumpsuit Apparatus.

I don’t mean to be petty for the sake of pettiness, Mr. Winter, but your band’s sound is the poster child for the watered down corporate jangly pop of the 2000s. It’s soulless, joyless, and ultimately forgettable. Apparently, the main reason why people “resonate” with your song is that it’s about domestic abuse, which is a clue here that you’ve always pandered to emotions rather than relying on talent.

As such, this is now my segue into your latest form of emotional pandering, where you emoted on Instagram that Trump supporters were banned from your shows…forever.

Here are a few quotes with my responses:

“You’re going to see a lot of acceptance from all areas of life and races, and um, you’re just going to see a lot of harmony, OK? That’s not what you’re about, OK? Don’t come. Refunds are available. Forever, don’t come. Goodbye.”

Ah yes, another white liberal who has no actual friends of color. Because if you did have a genuinely diverse pool of friends, you’d know some black and Hispanic Trump supporters, like I do. I’m not making them up, the data shows they approve of Trump, blacks even more than whites.

Another quote:

“It’s awesome that you love ‘Face Down’; it’s not for you. It’s not your song, OK? It is not your song.”

I don’t love “Face Down,” in fact, I actively dislike it and that’s not because of your politics.

More:

“Do not come to my shows because you’re going to hear a lot of propaganda, and you’re going to hear like the actual words of Jesus.”

Well, you are right about the propaganda, but you are wrong about the “actual words of Jesus.”

Jesus never said that the solution to the problems of third world countries was to import half the populations into wealthier countries and then pay them crap wages as virtual slave labor.

Jesus did say we are to love our enemies, which you are clearly not doing. Loving enemies doesn’t mean that you need to agree with them, but it does mean forgiving them. This is a central tenet of Christian faith. This is why Christians do the “Sign of Peace,” because we are not to take Communion before mending things with our neighbors.

Your hatred of all Trump supporters is the exact opposite of what Christ taught. Furthermore, Jesus called out virtue signaling hypocrites:

And when you pray, do not be like the hypocrites, for they love to pray standing in the synagogues and on the street corners to be seen by others. Truly I tell you, they have received their reward in full.

Make no mistake, you are not about love, but about virtue signaling. People who really feel love in their hearts do not feel the need to lash out and punish half the population of a country the way you just did.

You also said:

“Look man, the thing about being woke is you’re awake, and once you’re awake you can never go to sleep. Not only has nothing changed, but everything they said was going to happen – the woke people – has happened. You have done nothing but prove them right.”

No, you’ve proven us right with your temper tantrums and emotional abuse. You have no clue what is really going on. All of the “civil rights” movements you support are straight-up astroturf. From the fake gender identity movement that profits Big Pharma while destroying women’s rights to the soft invasion of Western countries that is designed to topple them and bring in an authoritarian global government…you are a tool of elites.

You are also a racist. How so? Because, like most affluent white liberals, you look down on brown people and think they are incapable of surviving and thriving in their homelands. You engage in vacuum colonialism…importing people from third world countries into white Western enclaves, with the end result being cultural genocide-by-proxy.²

Meanwhile, Western elites are snapping up land in so-called “blue zones,” like an article from today’s NY Post illustrates:

The 80-mile peninsula, located just south of the Nicaraguan border, is one of the world’s five original Blue Zones. Its residents are more than twice as likely as Americans to reach their 90s in good health.

Expats chasing the Blue Zone lifestyle have flocked to Costa Rica in recent years, fueling a boom in luxury tourism and hotel-branded private residences across the region.

And yet, you want to look me in the eye and tell me that sending Hispanics back to Latin America is equivalent to condemning them to the gas chamber? You do realize those countries are filled with families, doctors, scientists, and productive people? You, sir, are a racist, and a patronizing one to boot.

You are also self-defeating. You have a platform, and if you had any ounce of sense you’d be inviting Trump supporters to your shows so you can lecture them. What do you gain from preaching to the choir? Nothing.

At any rate, I for one am sick of you sheltered drama queens pretending you are better than the rest of us with your performative niceness and narcissistic empathy, which mask a deep spiritual darkness that has eaten up your soul and apparently also rotted your brain.

You are ALL ego, and no heart.

Despite my tongue lashing, I will not wish the worst on you, but pray that you wake up for real.

1. I would be genuinely heartbroken if Scissor Sisters banned Trump voters. I looked up their name and “Trump” and found one article where the writer seemed to be more determined to make it about politics than the band. Two band members explained that they would still want to play in countries like Russia, which indicates they may be less inclined to support full-blown cancel culture. Hopefully they’ll stay this way - from the interview at Attitude:

B: There’s always been the argument about whether you should go and play in countries where the government stands for the wrong things. We always said, we’re not playing for a government; we’re out there playing for people that may need a little bit of brightness.

J: Yeah. We got a lot of “Why would you go there?” But playing those shows, we realised how important it was. The people there desperately needed it and were risking something just being there. Those shows were really special to me.

2. When I say "cultural genocide-by-proxy," I don't mean that you are destroying Western culture so much as destroying third world cultures by destabilizing them with the drain of human capital and then assimilating migrants into first world culture via vacuum colonization.
