Should we risk the lives of children to save deportees?

In a comment on my article on the next No Kings action, a reader sent a link to a Forbes article about an alleged gay “makeup artist” deported and sent to a “notorious” El Salvador prison.

“... But people are being disappeared ...” Ellen wrote in her comment. First, let’s clear this up, because this is where you lose me right off the bat. No, deportees are not being “disappeared.” “Being disappeared” is more like the term “86ed,” which means, “killed and the body hidden,” as a mobster might make concrete shoes for someone and throw them in the Hudson River.

Let’s just stop it with the hyperbolic language right now. Being deported is not the same thing as being literally killed with the evidence destroyed.

This language is being used by organizations like No Kings to stir up anti-ICE violence. It’s inflammatory and false.

Deporting a person is simply sending them back to their homeland. If there is any actual “disappearing” going on in the actual homeland, then the homeland government is at fault and we should try to fix the problem there, not import all the problems here. The United States simply does not have the bandwidth to take on unlimited “refugees,” as we have enough of our own homeless people to deal with.

Most importantly, opening our borders is a massive security risk, and we are lucky we have not yet seen a massive terror attack on our soil because of it. Part of the reason we haven’t is that law enforcement has already caught quite a few people who may have been planning such an attack. Most recently, Chinese students have been caught smuggling bioweapons into the United States. So if the worst happens and hundreds or thousands or more Americans die thanks to open borders, will it be worth it?

Naïve people want to believe that everyone in the world is simply good (except for “MAGAts”), and so we aren’t risking other people’s lives with open borders. The dead victims of illegal immigrant gang members would disagree with you, however.

Are you willing to bet the life of an innocent girl by allowing a potentially violent rapist and killer to stay in the United States?

Ellen also wrote:

“But I wish people could at least agree that before sending people to torturous confinement centers like CECOT, that there should be serious due process to make sure we're not sending innocent people into hell ....”

You are well meaning, but your entire supposition here is that a) there wasn’t enough due process to begin with, meaning, ICE just throws people to the wolves at CECOT without first doing some legwork to identify criminal activity; b) the mainstream media is being truthful about conditions at “torturous confinement centers” such as CECOT; and c) the answer to CECOT is for the US to take on the risk of keeping potentially dangerous criminals here, instead of advocating for El Salvador to fix their human rights issues.

Finally, if some of these deportees literally are child rapists and killers, would you think a little differently about them being sent to CECOT?

Police have revealed the pair, who were in the U.S. illegally from Venezuela, allegedly lured Jocelyn under a bridge, where they held her for more than two hours, possibly gang-raping her after they tied her up.

Some of these men don’t even deserve to stay alive in prisons like CECOT!

Are you willing to risk the lives of other girls by letting murderous gang-raping pedophiles go free?

So let’s say that the mainstream media is right and an innocent gay man was sent to CECOT on false pretenses. Or, that man is a liar, and he’s not even gay but using it as an excuse to stay in the US. I don’t know. Do you know for sure?

Either way, if I were to weigh his life against that of a young girl who might be brutally gang raped and murdered...sorry, keep on deporting and then fight the El Salvadorean government to release any true innocents there. We cannot have more girls being ripped apart by vicious gang members.

Much of your concerns are potentially the result of manipulation from mainstream media articles. Since you sent over a Forbes piece (hardly an unbiased source), let’s review it:

The Forbes article is a prime example of potential propaganda we all should be on the alert for.

First of all, the headline blares:

“Photo Shows Deported Gay Makeup Artist Andry Hernandez Romero Pleading With Guards At El Salvador’s CECOT”

OK...but WHERE’S THE PHOTO???

The only photo I see in the Forbes article is the back of the helmet of what apparently is a correctional officer at a prison. Everyone in the prison is wearing a medical mask, so when exactly was this picture taken?

The actual photo referenced in the headline is accessible via a link to a CBS story, but that’s not made clear in the Forbes article. It wasn’t obvious at all, but I found it, somewhat hidden in the “Key Facts” section.

The CBS story shows a short series of black and white photos (black and white being used here for maximum drama). I do not see a photo of any man “pleading” with guards. I do see close-up photo of a man getting his head shaved with his hands in the prayer position, but that’s not what the Forbes headline describes.

And my question is, if the CECOT prison really is a haven for human rights abuses, why are the guards letting a Western photojournalist take such an up-close photograph of what is a dangerous criminal in their minds? Weird.

Let’s also dissect some of the “key facts” in both of these articles. From the CBS article:

Holsinger told CBS he heard Romero shout “I’m innocent” and “I’m gay” as guards slapped him: “He started praying and calling out, literally crying for his mother,” Holsinger said.

I’m not saying 100% this did not happen, but why on earth would anyone shout “I’m gay” at a bunch of guards slapping you in a Latin American prison? How is that going to make anything better? Also, this man is from El Salvador, so wouldn’t he be shouting this in Spanish?

And where are the photos of the man being slapped?

How do we know the photojournalist just didn’t make this up?

Being gay is not illegal in El Salvador, by the way.

More from CBS:

The Trump administration has claimed all of the men are members of the Venezuelan gang Tren de Aragua, but lawyers and family members for multiple men reject the assessments, while CBS News found no criminal records for 75% of the men.

I don’t care what CBS News claims it found. A lack of criminal records found by CBS does not mean these men did not commit crimes. I suppose CBS was unable to find the protection orders filed by “Maryland Man” Kilmar Abrego Garcia’s wife after he beat her.

And of course, lawyers and family members will reject the gang affiliation claim. Duh. This means nothing.

This leads into this ridiculous paragraph from Forbes, which elevates CBS as somehow a more credible source of investigation than US law enforcement:

Lawyers for the Trump administration said Romero’s tattoos of crowns—which Toczylowski said are above the names’ of his mother and father—are evidence of his Tren de Aragua affiliation, along with social media posts, though a CBS review of a decade’s worth of Romero’s social media found no such indications.

This is a stretch. The actual CBS article did not say that they “found no such indications” but that they “could only find photos like these,” but what “these photos” are is not made clear.

Additionally, CBS cites a girlfriend of another alleged gang member saying that a gang sign is just about “rock n’ roll” – what is this, 1978? – and that really means nothing either way, as the girlfriend is of course going to cover for her boyfriend.

Here’s another part of the Forbes piece we should take with a grain of salt:

The Trump administration has until 12:59 p.m. Monday to return Kilmar Abrego Garcia, a Maryland father the government said it mistakenly deported to El Salvador. Despite an ICE official admitting Abrego Garcia was deported due to a “clerical error,” The White House has insisted it has credible evidence to prove he is a member of the MS-13 gang. His lawyer has said the only evidence is a statement from a confidential informant who said he belongs to MS-13’s outpost on Long Island, despite never having been to New York.

First of all, this information is out of date, which I’ll get to in a second. But we should first note here how the writer acts like President Trump is not part of the government. First, article talks about a vague “the government” saying Garcia was “mistakenly deported,” in opposite to the “White House.” Excuse me, but the White House IS the government. So what part of the government said this was a mistake? Some unnamed “ICE official”? Who could have been made up by the writer for all I know, or some sort of remnant Biden administration saboteur.

Do you see now how this “reporter” twists things to fit a narrative?

Furthermore: Much has been written about deportees’ alleged gang tattoos as the “only” reason for being deported, but given the millions upon millions of illegal immigrants in the United States, how on earth would ICE even know about one man with a few gang tattoos, unless he was doing other things?

Well, a convicted human smuggler has stated that he hired Abrego Garcia to smuggle illegal aliens into the United States, according to the FBI. Is that not enough evidence?

The thing you have to realize is that most mainstream outlets are left-leaning and they spin stories to hit your emotions. These articles from Forbes and CBS are not objective but designed to make you emotionally upset about alleged false deportations. The reporters are clearly hostile to the Trump administration, and for all we know, they make crap up.

These media outlets also harm women and children by covering up and avoiding the evidence linking illegal gang members with domestic violence and full-blown rape.

I will note here that I am also trying to hit you in the emotions by focusing on a girl killed by illegal gang members. It’s one of the few ways I might be able to break the mainstream conditioning you may be under. I’m just being upfront about it. (I’m also furious about this girl’s death for real as well.)

Let’s summarize:

The mainstream media claims that ICE is either accidentally or willfully fabricating gang affiliation to target and deport a few “innocents,” which makes no sense given there are at least 11 million illegal immigrants in the United States (as of 2022, which is likely a dramatically low estimate) – so there are probably plenty of actual hardened criminals to deport.

ICE would logically be focused on deporting the criminals first, as they are the low-hanging fruit. So we should believe that ICE is making up criminal activity just to nab a few “innocents,” only to risk public outcry and backlash?

Or maybe it’s much more likely that Trump-hating reporters and activists are stirring up your emotions with one-sided propaganda?

Fix El Salvador First

But let’s say the Trump-hating mainstream media is correct and “innocent” gay hairdressers are being deported and falsely put into the dreaded El Salvadorean CECOT prison.

WHO is putting these deportees into CECOT? It’s not the United States. It’s El Salvador.

How about this? Instead of shouting the same stupid slogans over and over again, American activists could put some of their energies on actually helping the people in El Salvador? If there are false imprisonments, the answer isn’t to just ignore that and send a few illegal immigrant prisoners back the United States. In doing that, you’re just letting the El Salvador government get away with false imprisonment. How about you agitate for the release of the so-called innocents in El Salvador?

What long-term change are you actually accomplishing if you are not bothering to help improve the immigrants’ countries of origin?

So let’s say we were able to rescue 20 people from El Salvador. You could advocate for their rights to stay in the US, but how about the rest of the 6.5 million people? How about fixing El Salvador?

All that money and time spent on the No Kings protests could have been used to help ALL the people in Latin America, not just the few able-bodied youngsters who were able to trek up across the border.

As such, the entire focus on allowing illegal immigration is a lazy way to avoid solving the problems in other countries. All it does is drain those countries of young people who could help to make those countries better. Illegal immigration is not just a terrible band-aid, it worsens everything for everyone in the long run.

We can certainly talk about the CIA’s past involvement in Latin American regime change – absolutely. But that doesn’t mean that the answer to all this is to import all the young people from those countries to the US.

Don’t blame ICE for El Salvador’s problems. Work to Make El Salvador Great Again.

To recap. The US is not disappearing anyone. Some of the deportees likely do deserve to be in prison. For those that don’t, advocate for them in their home countries. Remember:

The end result of open border policy is that real criminals have been let loose in our country, and they have raped and murdered little girls. Let that sink in.

Are we to sacrifice the safety of our girls with open borders?

I’m not down with that.
